Instruments of the World

Instruments of the World
A fun, integrative, educational and multi-cultural program that takes participants on a musical journey around the world. Students will visit and learn geographical, cultural and historical facts about other countries/regions. Every show is captivating with visual, audio, and hands-on participation. Learn and experience musical traditions from the Himalayas, West Africa, Australia, Venezuela, Brazil & Angola (Strong focus through Capoeira). Matica has many instruments hand carved by them and they bring tools and explain how d'jembes and other drums and instruments are made. The program culminates in a Unity piece where students select instruments from around the world for the troupe to play in a melting pot medley- created on the spot.

Matica arts presented an entertaining/instructional program, at the Hartford Public Library this fall. We look forward to a total of four interactive, muti-media presentations of Matica's Instruments of the World at at least two library sites this coming July. They will take audiences on a musical journey around the globe and through time, using instruments and visual arts from Tibet, China, Brazil, Europe, Mexico, Australia and Africa.
We are very pleased with the quality and thoughtfulness of their work.
