Instruments of the World

Instruments of the World
A fun, integrative, educational and multi-cultural program that takes participants on a musical journey around the world. Students will visit and learn geographical, cultural and historical facts about other countries/regions. Every show is captivating with visual, audio, and hands-on participation. Learn and experience musical traditions from the Himalayas, West Africa, Australia, Venezuela, Brazil & Angola (Strong focus through Capoeira). Matica has many instruments hand carved by them and they bring tools and explain how d'jembes and other drums and instruments are made. The program culminates in a Unity piece where students select instruments from around the world for the troupe to play in a melting pot medley- created on the spot.

If there's a natural rhythm in everything, Heidi Kirchofer and Joel Melendez just may have tapped into it. Whether it's the pulsating beat of the D'jembe, the spectacular manipulation of fire, the delicate balance of a unicycle or the fluidity of capoeira, Kirchofer and Melendez convey uncanny timing and gracefulness in their performances.
